Beeson, Tayer & Bodine is a progressive, 17‑attorney law firm dedicated to championing unions, workers, and benefit plans since 1936.  With offices in Oakland and Sacramento, we represent public‑ and private‑sector unions, educators, employee benefit plans, and individual employees across the full spectrum of union‑side labor and employment law.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney for our Sacramento office, available to start immediately.  This position focuses on our Labor & Employment practice.

As part of our commitment to workplace democracy, our associate attorneys have recently organized and are currently bargaining for their first collective bargaining agreement, which is expected to include across‑the‑board wage increases.  This process reflects our values and our long‑standing support for worker empowerment.

Ideal candidates will have 2-10 years of experience and must be admitted to the California Bar.  In addition to strong academic credentials, excellent writing, and effective oral advocacy skills, candidates must share our commitment to the labor movement and workers’ rights.  While union‑side experience is a plus, we also welcome applicants with backgrounds in plaintiffs’ employment law or public interest work.  Completion of labor and employment law coursework is expected.

We are looking for a motivated self‑starter with excellent judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.  Candidates must hold a J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school and be active, in good standing, with the California Bar.

We offer a competitive salary and generous benefits in a collaborative, mission‑driven workplace.  For attorneys with 3-5 years of experience, the salary range is $103,000-$113,000, commensurate with experience.  Our benefits package includes employer‑paid family medical, dental, and vision coverage; profit sharing; a 401(k) match; student loan assistance; and commute support.  Our current schedule includes three in‑office days and two remote days each week.
