Role Description
As District Counsel, you will be expected to handle a wide range of matters relating to grievances and arbitration, litigation, proceedings before the NLRB and public sector labor relations agencies as well as new organizing. Some travel is expected.
Responsibilities
- Handle discipline and contract interpretation arbitration cases.
- Represent the Union before the National Labor Relations Board and other federal, state, and municipal administrative agencies.
- Represent the Union in federal and state court.
- Advise Union officers and staff on organizing campaigns, traditional labor law, and internal Union administration.
- Assist with contract negotiations.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants with a wide range of experience will be considered. Excellent research and writing skills are a must, as is a demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights. A driver's license is also required.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in New York City, but with obligations throughout New York State and New England. Applicants based in western New York will be considered. You would be joining a supportive, collaborative group of lawyers who strongly believe in the worker justice movement.
Compensation & Benefits
