Herzfeld, Suetholz, Gastel, Leniski and Wall, PLLC seeks an attorney to join our traditional labor law practice. The ideal candidate will have 5–15 years of relevant experience and a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement. This position provides extensive direct client contact and significant case-handling opportunities from start to finish. Office located in Cincinnati, OH or Louisville, KY – willing to discuss based on applicant’s preference. Remote work permitted. Travel required.
Responsibilities
Attorneys advise and represent unions in almost every aspect, including day-to-day counsel and compliance issues, collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration proceedings, unfair labor practice charges, organizing-related issues, member education and officer training, and litigation or administrative proceedings before labor boards and courts. Clients include those covered by the NLRA, RLA, and public sector collective bargaining laws.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Admitted to practice law in any jurisdiction.
- Strong commitment to unions and the labor movement.
- Broad knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act, including experience practicing before the National Labor Relations Board and other administrative agencies, collective bargaining, arbitration practice, and labor litigation in state and federal court, including union defense and seeking injunctive relief.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.
- Skillful client management, providing competent counsel and developing trusted relationships with principal officers.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- 8 years or more as a practicing attorney.
- Experience representing unions covered by the Railway Labor Act.
- Experience representing public sector unions.
- Union organizing experience.
- Admitted to practice in Ohio or Kentucky.
