International Union, UAW- Legal Department
Detroit
International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) seeks applicants to fill multiple attorney positions. The UAW is one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, with members in virtually every sector of the economy. UAW-represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations.
The work of the UAW Legal Department consists primarily of federal court and administrative agency litigation, bargaining assistance, legal advice to union officials, legislative advice, participation in union strategic planning, campaign finance-related advice and educational and training activities. Our law reform and legislative work often involves issues that extend far beyond the workplaces of UAW members. We value collegiality, respect and cooperation and jointly manage our work in accord with these values. We work in a similar manner with outside counsel throughout the U.S.
The Legal Department is located at Solidarity House, the UAW’s headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Applications by both experienced attorneys and recent graduates will be considered. Compensation and benefits are extremely competitive. UAW is committed to workplace diversity. Women, candidates of color, individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community are strongly encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should send a resume, transcript (recent graduates only), and writing sample to Bill Karges, General Counsel, International Union, UAW, 8000 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48214, or by e-mail, legalopening@uaw.net.
