Associates: We welcome applications from candidates interested in joining our firm’s dynamic practice representing workers and their unions.

We advocate creatively for our clients, seeking innovative solutions both in and out of court. Our work involves defending a broad spectrum of employee and civil rights, including organizing, collective bargaining, equal treatment, fair wages and hours, and contract enforcement. We frequently litigate complex cases and class actions in trial and appellate courts, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies. The firm’s innovative litigation strategies have often created new law on questions of first impression.

Associates at the firm are given substantial responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s work in meaningful ways. They are often asked to complete substantive litigation tasks, including drafting court filings, interacting with clients and opposing counsel, representing clients in arbitration, and making court arguments. They also participate in advising our union clients on internal matters, such as collective bargaining and union governance. Our flexible, collegial structure allows us to draw on the strengths of each associate and partner to best advance the task or project at hand.

Candidates should display a commitment to advancing the needs of working people. They should have a strong academic background, outstanding writing ability, keen analytical skills, and enjoy taking initiative. The firm is committed to diversity and inclusion, and strongly encourages candidates from diverse and historically marginalized backgrounds to apply.

Salary is dependent on experience, and ranges from $85,000-$125,000. We also offer a competitive benefits package.

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and up to two writing samples to Michael Ellementmpellement@jamhoff.com.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, preferably by February 3, 2025.

When possible, summer associates are given opportunities to attend client intake sessions, depositions, arbitrations, and court appearances, as well as meetings and events in the Washington, D.C. area labor community. Applicants should have superior academic records; excellent writing, research and oral communication skills; strong work references; and a demonstrated interest in labor and employment law.
