Associate Counsel – ERISA/Employee Benefits

Leonard Carder, LLP, based in Oakland, California, is looking for attorneys with 3-5+ years’  experience/interest in employee benefits law and a demonstrated commitment to the goals of  workers’ rights and the labor movement. Ideal candidates should have ERISA experience and  familiarity with multiemployer defined benefit pension plans, defined contribution plans and  

welfare benefit plans. Other specific experience with governmental plans, QDROs, subrogation  and trust fund collections will be considered. In addition, strong research, writing and analytical  skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with unions, multiemployer trust funds, and plan  participants is essential.  

For more than 80 years, Leonard Carder has aided unions and workers involved in some of the  most memorable labor struggles on the West Coast and has championed workers’ rights in  precedent-setting litigation. We represent local and international labor unions and employee  benefit plans, as well as representing employees in class actions, individual workers’ rights  cases, and law reform litigation. 

The salary range for ERISA associate attorneys with at least three years of experience in  employee benefits work is between $111,500 and $150,000 annually, depending on bar passage  and experience. Associate attorneys are also eligible for loan repayment up to $4,000 per year  and annual bonuses. Leonard Carder provides a comprehensive benefits package including  health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and cell phone  reimbursement. After one year of employment, associate attorneys are eligible for Leonard  Carder’s 401k plan, with employer contributions.

Ideal candidates should have strong research,  writing and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with unions, employee benefit  trust funds, and workers.
