Maryland State Division of Labor and Industry
The Division of Labor and Industry, the workplace standards enforcement authority of the Maryland Department of Labor, is seeking a Senior Advisor to serve as a member of the Division’s senior leadership, and be deeply engaged in the work of the Division to strengthen and enforce Maryland’s workplace standards, protect workers and the public, and further the Moore-Miller Administration’s policy goals.
The position provides strategic and programmatic assistance to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, supports program leadership and staff in the Division, coordinates with the Office of the Secretary, and works collaboratively within and outside the agency to strengthen and effectuate the Division’s mission.
The role may include the following:
- Policy analysis and development, including legal analysis of legislation, and legal and factual research and analysis in connection with recommending and developing new regulatory and legislative initiatives;
- Assistance with planning and implementing new program initiatives, including analysis of enforcement program outcomes and metrics, conducting and guiding research to inform and increase the effectiveness of our programs, and developing and implementing plans for stakeholder engagement.
- Represents the Commissioner and other Program Managers within the Division at State, federal, and local meetings, Board, Task Force, and Advisory Group meetings, and meetings with stakeholders as directed
This is a Management Service position that serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Law degree (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. educational institution.
Experience: Two years of legal practice or legal experience, preferably in the subject areas of labor law, employment law, and/or administrative law, or two years of experience working in a policy role for a state, local, or federal government agency.
