Labor and Employment Law Associate Attorney (Federal)

Full job description
Boutique labor and employment law firm representing federal employees and federal unions seeking an independently driven attorney with 2-8 years of experience to join our practice in a fully remote capacity.

The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and be comfortable working with federal employees on claims of discrimination, discipline, and whistleblower retaliation. Additionally, the candidate will have experience and desire to represent federal unions in collective bargaining agreement violations and labor disputes. Prior representational experience before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, Office of Special Counsel, Federal Labor Relations Authority, or other federal administrative forums are considered advantageous.

The attorney will report directly to the managing partners; however, the attorney will be expected to perform with substantial independence on a day-to-day basis. The attorney will play a key role in serving our clients and contributing to the growth of our practice and firm.

Federal Labor and Employment Law Attorney Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to federal employees and federal unions on a wide range of federal labor and employment law matters, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, disciplinary actions, wage and hour issues, and compliance with federal laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents and provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Represent clients in litigation proceedings, including acting as first-chair of administrative hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Review and analyze federal regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements and advise clients.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and a strong work ethic including the ability to function with minimal supervision.

Labor and Employment Law Attorney Requirements:

  • Admission to one state bar.
  • Minimum two years experience practicing law.
  • Demonstrated interest in federal labor and employment law.
  • Demonstrated interest in litigation and advocacy.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with individual’s own clients and caseload.
  • Litigation and courtroom experience.

Education
· Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications
· Admission to one state bar or the District of Columbia – in Good Standing and Active
