Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld is one of the nation’s leading firms representing unions and working people in all aspects of labor and employment law. We represent unions, employee benefit plans, and individual employees in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies throughout the country.

We provide counsel to assist unions in developing legal strategies for organizing, representation, negotiation, and contract enforcement. Our clients represent a broad range of unionized workers in the public sector, the private sector, and within the building trades.  Our firm advises employee benefit plans in support of their mission to provide retirement, health and welfare, and other benefits earned by workers through their employment.  We provide guidance to our clients about the constantly changing legal environment and its implications.

In serving unions and benefit plans, our practice ranges far beyond labor law to civil rights, environmental compliance, real estate, bankruptcy, catastrophic torts, and many other areas of the law that impact our clients. Because we are the largest union-side labor firm in the country, our firm can handle major litigation, as well as provide advice and counsel in many specialized fields of legal practice.

In addition to our union-related practice, we represent the broader interests of working people by undertaking class actions and other lawsuits to enforce wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination laws, and employee benefit laws on behalf of employees not represented by unions. We believe in the old labor motto: “An injury to one is an injury to all.”

Our summer clerk positions are open to law students with a demonstrated commitment to worker rights and the labor movement. Our clerks are assigned a variety of legal research and writing projects addressing both “traditional” labor and benefit plan issues and emerging practice areas.  In addition, our clerks accompany attorneys into the field to meet clients, observe arbitrations and hearings, and participate in our in-house education program. Our clerks are paid $35 an hour and are based out of our California offices in Emeryville, Los Angeles, and Sacramento offices. Start date is flexible.  We have filled the summer clerk position for our Los Angeles Office.

Interested applicants for a summer clerk position in Emeryville or Sacramento should provide a cover letter, resume and writing sample to:
