Wright, Ryon & Maher, P.A. Our law firm represents labor unions in all that they do to protect and better the lives of workers. We also represent individuals in matters related to their employment, including the handling of discrimination and wage and hour cases. We litigate, counsel, and advocate in courtrooms, before agencies, at the bargaining table, and before legislative bodies.
Opportunity. We seek an early-career attorney with a faculty for litigation and an interest in workplace justice. As our clients have grown, so too has their need to enforce employment rights, bargaining rights, and contractual benefits. Our union clients enforce their rights and agreements in actions heard by Maryland’s Office of Administrative Hearings, Maryland’s Public Employee Relations Board, and arbitrators, as well as the courts. This is an opportunity to use trial skills in meaningful and rewarding ways for working people from teachers, to librarians, to healthcare providers, to first responders, to skilled tradespeople, and beyond.
The attorney will handle a slate of assignments, with support from our existing team of dedicated attorneys. The attorney will be guided by our long-standing experience with such work. The attorney will have direct client contact – and support – from the outset and will be expected to manage all phases of their assignments.
Qualifications. JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Maryland is required. Two or more years of experience with, and knowledge of, legal issues in the workplace desired. Valuable experience could come from: working at or with the NLRB or other labor boards; representing plaintiffs in employment litigation; public service involving labor relations, discrimination, or human relations; a clerkship or fellowship; and/or experience working for a union or workplace advocacy organization. Exemplary academic credentials along with strong, proven research, writing, and analytic abilities are a must.
Candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to the attention of David Gray Wright.
