2025 SUMMER INTERNSHIP/UNION LAWYERS ALLIANCE DOOR PROGRAM

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, is New York City’s largest public employee union.  DC37 also represents thousands of employees in the non-profit sector as well as employees of certain cultural institutions and public libraries. DC37’s General Counsel’s Office seeks 2Ls for its 2025 Internship Program.  The General Counsel’s Office handles a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including representation proceedings, filing and prosecuting unfair labor and improper practice charges; this Office also represents members and local unions in labor arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and federal and state court litigation.  Assignments may include conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda regarding a variety of labor law issues; interns may attend and participate in arbitration and disciplinary proceedings, and may observe labor-management meetings.


Candidates must be available to work the full ten weeks of the Program’s duration, demonstrate an interest and commitment to union-side labor law, and must have strong research and writing skills. Interns will be paid a modest stipend of $800 per week.  Please send your cover letter, resume and writing samples to: Erica C.
