Labor Associate

Cohen, Weiss and Simon LLP, one of the nation’s preeminent labor law firms, seeks a labor associate with 2 - 5 years of experience to start in the next six months. The firm serves the needs of a  diverse range of local and national union and benefit fund clients across many industries, including entertainment, sports, transportation, postal delivery, building trades, communications, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, maritime, and laundry and food service distribution. We litigate on behalf of our union clients in federal and state court, represent unions in administrative  proceedings before federal, state and city agencies and in grievance arbitrations, assist with collective bargaining, provide strategic advice on organizing, internal union governance, and assist clients in connection with many other matters. We have 19 lawyers in our labor practice and, together with our 11 employee benefits lawyers, our firm is committed to advancing the rights of working people and organizing for racial and economic justice. We have a collaborative, open-door culture and offer a mentorship program to foster professional growth and build authentic  community. 

Applicants should have demonstrable commitment to the labor movement and strong critical thinking, research, and writing skills, and should be comfortable thinking on their feet, interacting with clients, and exercising independent judgment. The firm has a flexible policy regarding remote work, with attorneys expected to come to the office only two days a week.  

Starting salary is between $144,000 and $175,000, based on years of experience. The firm also offers performance bonuses.
