Deats, Durst & Owen PLLC, a progressive union- and employee-side labor and employment law firm based in Austin, Texas, seeks an experienced attorney to join our team.
For decades, our attorneys have represented working people and labor unions in the fight for dignity, fairness, and justice on the job. We advocate for clients in traditional private and public sector labor law matters, including union elections, grievances, arbitrations, internal union charges, union governance, and related litigation. We are proud to be the only union-side labor law firm in Austin, and one of only a few in Texas, committed exclusively to advancing the rights of workers.
We also represent employees at all levels in a broad range of workplace matters, including wage and hour violations, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, workplace safety, and disputes over employment agreements, severance, non-compete, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements. Our work often involves standing up to entrenched power and advocating for those whose voices are too often silenced.
The position will be based in the Austin metro area. The successful candidate will primarily work remotely but must be available for in-person meetings and proceedings in Austin, occasionally throughout Texas, and rarely outside the state. Shared office space will be available for optional use.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Licensed to practice in Texas

Preferred qualifications:

- Demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights, social justice, and progressive causes
