The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 12 is a union of highly skilled heavy equipment operators, mechanics, surveyors, inspectors, and other workers in the construction industry and a range of other sectors. Local 12's geographic jurisdiction spans Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Arizona, with its principal office located in Pasadena, CA. The Local represents more than 25,000 members.

Local 12 seeks a qualified attorney to join its in-house legal staff and handle core representation matters on behalf of the union and its membership. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wishes to practice traditional labor law with a major union, working on a variety of matters — including arbitrations, NLRB proceedings, advocacy before private and public bodies, job actions, organizing, internal governance, and advising the Union on all aspects of labor law. Litigation opportunities as well.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of experience in traditional labor law, strong advocacy skills, and excellent legal research and writing ability. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Admission to the California Bar is required. Admission to the Nevada and/or Arizona Bar is a plus, and candidates willing to seek admission in those states are encouraged to apply.

The salary range for this position is $135,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience. Local 12 also offers a robust benefits package. This position is based in the Pasadena, CA office, is not eligible for remote work, and requires regular travel throughout Local 12's jurisdiction.
