Job duties for the positions include:
- Providing general and legal advice to the firm’s diverse Union or employee benefit plan clients.
- For the LA, public sector and litigation attorneys:
- Representing Unions at grievance arbitration hearings and before administrative agencies, such as the National Labor Relations Board or Public Employee Relations Board
- Giving Union staff and steward trainings
- Handling all stages of litigation, which may include wage and hour class actions, harassment and discrimination litigation, and employee benefits litigation. Approximately 80% of the Litigation Focus Attorney’s time will be spent in this area.
- The Employee Benefits Focus Attorney will spend the majority of their time providing general and legal advice to the firm’s diverse employee benefit plan clients, attending Trust Fund client meetings, handling ERISA related litigation (including enforcement of contribution obligations, subrogation, benefit denial and withdrawal liability cases), and defending the firm’s employee benefit plan and union clients in administrative hearings and in state and federal court.
Candidates must be licensed and in good standing in California. Dedication to the labor movement, strong writing and oral advocacy skills, organization and time management are essential. Applicants should be detail-oriented and possess exemplary research, writing and analytical skills. Spanish language skills and/or real estate experience is a plus. The candidate should be a motivated self-starter with superb judgment and communication skills, and must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The positions require occasional evening or weekend work depending on client events or needs.
WRR associates are paid on a pay step scale based on years of experience performing relevant work. The salary range for the open positions is $91,900.00 - $122,000.00, plus additional benefits, including: participation in a “defined benefit” pension plan (promises a specified monthly benefit at retirement, rather than simply a “defined contribution”); annual employer 401(k) contribution equal to 5% of salary; 100% employer paid premiums for health, dental and vision insurance for the employee and all eligible dependents; group life and AD&D insurance; group Long-Term Disability insurance; employer provided cell phone and laptop; paid holidays; commuter benefits; dependent care benefits; and a flexible spending account (FSA). WRR also offers associate attorneys an option to participate in a tax-free student loan assistance program. Attorneys are eligible for bonuses.
